Get Comfy Chic
WHY AUSTRALIANS ARE STEPPING INTO THEIR COMFORT ERA FOR MENTAL HEALTH.
Looking for something to boost your mood and support mental health this season? Meet Wear Your Uggs Day 2026, also known as the cosiest way to support mental health this winter
Turns out, Aussies are leaning into comfort culture in a big way and it’s not about being lazy, it’s about feeling good. According to fresh research from Ugg Express, 60% of us say that slipping into comfy clothes or shoes instantly lifts our mood. It’s proof that what we wear can help change how we feel, inside and out.
Sure, style still matters, especially if you ask Gen Z, but there’s a bigger shift happening. Dressing for comfort, self-care, and that feel-good factor is taking centre stage. Over half of Aussies already own a pair of Ugg boots or sheepskin slippers, and it’s the younger crowd leading the change. These days, Uggs aren’t just for lounging at home. They’re making appearances on coffee runs, at brunch, and even at parties.
Gen Z might be a little torn, almost one in five say style wins over comfort, but the rise of off-duty dressing tells a bigger story. Aussies everywhere are craving simplicity, and those little wardrobe wins that make us feel good from the inside out.
Ashley Lu, Marketing Manager at Ugg Express, says the findings reflect how fashion and wellbeing are becoming increasingly connected.
“Comfortable footwear has a powerful impact on how we feel day to day, and it’s clear Australians across all generations and regions recognise that. However, this shouldn’t come at the cost of style, and it’s great to see Ugg boots being embraced and worn beyond the home.”

But Wear Your Uggs Day is about more than just looking cute and feeling cosy. On June 1, Aussies everywhere are invited to slip into their favourite Uggs and show support for Beyond Blue, a mental health organisation making a real difference. Every purchase from the Wear Your Uggs Day collection in May helps fund free mental health support services, so your comfy kicks can help someone else feel a little better, too.
Dr Luke Martin, Clinical Spokesperson for Beyond Blue, shared that the campaign is about more than simply footwear.
“Something as simple as pulling on your Uggs can be a moment to check in with yourself and also send an important message of hope to others. Reaching out early can make a real difference.”
Right now, talking about mental wellbeing matters more than ever. Wear Your Uggs Day is a reminder that comfort isn’t just a feeling, it’s a force for wellbeing. Sometimes, the smallest rituals like pulling on your favourite pair of Uggs or reaching out to a friend can spark real, meaningful change.
